Coriole Fiano 2008
I don’t even remember buying this wine, though it must have been fairly recently. I probably wouldn’t have bought an 08 vintage if I was paying attention, so I must have been somewhat absent minded at the time… That said, it’s drinking pretty well.
A few years of bottle age have boosted the variety’s nutty character. The wine is showing notes of grilled nuts, stonefruit kernels and toasted waffle cones. There’s also honeysuckle, fleshy peach and basil. It’s a suitably textured Fiano with some waxiness and a good kick of acid. Shows that Fiano can age, although I’m not sure it was made with that intention. Still, don’t dismiss it if you see some of this vintage as a bin end.
