Torbreck ‘The Bothie’ 2011

Not produced in the traditional cane cut or botrytis manner, The Bothie is made from Muscat Blanc A Petit Grains picked at different stages of ripeness, then fermentation is halted via addition of a spirit. I guess you’d call it a Fortified then.

Not particularly unctuous or rich – it’s fresh and lively. Floral aromas, with some caramel popcorn and lime sorbet notes. A touch of lifted alcohol escapes it, but without being harsh. Lime cordial on the palate reminds me of snow-cones. It’s all a bit fairground really. Give me this, a Dagwood Dog and a couple of Bertie Beetle showbags, and I’ll be happy. Acidity isn’t particularly noticeable but it doesn’t feel cloying; it’s rather nimble on its feet. You could serve it with sorbet, fruit platters or ever Thai food. Good

Closure: Screwcap
