This is probably my favourite Rosé. I’ve tried a few vintages and it’s been consistently good. It’s made from Grenache, Tempranillo and the white grape Viura (is that cheating?). Whilst on the topic of Viura, a number of sources say that Viura is the same grape as Macabeo, although the label on the Elefante Blanco white blend says that it contains 45% Macabeo and 40% Viura. I wonder if anyone’s ever made a Shiraz/Syrah blend…

Bronze-pink in hue. Delicate strawberry, mineral and blackcurrant feature on the nose. On the palate, it offers refreshment like weak strawberry and raspberry cordial (chilled of course). Some pink lady apple in there too.  There’s just the faintest bit of tannin around the sides, playfully skipping around with minerality and cranberry acidity. It’s dry and pale, as most Rosé should be. That’s all I want to say about it, really. It’s a wine for enjoyment and refreshment above all. My only gripe is the cork!

As fair as food pairings, I think it might actually work well with pan fried fish. Nothing too oily though.

Very Good – Excellent

Closure: Cork

Source: Retail

Price: $25

    Hi,

I’d love to try this. Do you know of any stockists in Sydney??

    Thanks

      Hi Joe,

I’m not sure about Sydney, but I’d say it’s highly likely that somebody would have it.
